Mechanical Drafting is one of the most widely used fields of drafting. Many products that are designed have been created using mechanical drafting . They could range from complex machines like automobiles, to the simplest things like a can opener. These all fall under the category of "mechanical drafting".
Our training teaches you how to develop mechanical detail and assembly drawings. The lessons stress visualizing objects and drafting them correctly as orthographic drawings, adding hidden details, and dimensioning them correctly (making blueprint drawings). The second lesson involves a "power transfer assembly" device, that consists of numerous parts that are detailed and then drawn placed together as an assembly. This is an advanced lesson that involves using tolerance dimensioning and noting the correct surface finishes for the various parts.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to work as a mechanical drafter, at the level of someone with around a year or two of experience in the field.
